Background Screening Requirements for Athletic Coaches

According to Florida Statute 943.0438 all athletic coaches, managers, and referees of youth teams, whether paid or serving as a volunteer, are required to pass an FDLE Level 2 background check beginning July 1, 2026. Weston’s Sports Alliance leagues have had this requirement in place for several years, ensuring the City of Weston's commitment to a safe environment for all in our parks. Any groups outside of the Weston Sports Alliance wishing to utilize field or court space in Weston parks will need to comply with the statute as part of the rental process.

Sports Leagues

In partnership with the City of Weston, the Weston Sports Alliance is the governing body for all league sport programs.  The Weston Sports Alliance provides youth and adult sports programming to the community in a fun, competitive and professional atmosphere while emphasizing good sportsmanship.
