Every Florida municipality is required to have a municipal charter, which is the legal framework within which a city or town operates. The Charter outlines the powers of the city, establishes the form of government, administrative departments, financial procedures, elections and more.  A Municipal Charter cannot be amended without a referendum.

The City of Weston's Charter was first established in 1996 when the City was incorporated.  The last amended version, is linked below.
