In an effort to display support to those working on the front lines, from medical professionals to inspectors and clerks, the City of Weston is launching the Shine in White campaign on Wednesday, April 8, 2020. The campaign will conclude when the Safer at Home order is lifted.

Weston City Hall is shining in white, too. White ribbons will be installed in outdoor public areas to kick-off this campaign. Weston officials encourage the public to wear a white ribbon or wear white clothing every Wednesday. Residents and businesses are asked to display white lights or white ribbons in their front yards, balconies or windows that are visible to their neighbors during this entire period.

“Those working closely with the public are taking great risks in an effort to ensure that others are safe,” said Mayor Daniel Stermer, City of Weston. “This is not going to go away anytime soon and we need to encourage those on the front lines by showing our appreciation for everything they do for the betterment of our communities. I know I am very appreciative for all they do.”

The City encourages the public to post their Shine in White photos and videos on social media by using the hashtag #ShineInWhite #Weston and to include inspiring messages to those front line professionals.

“We can all do this from the comfort of our homes. Let’s unify the community in a positive movement,” said Weston City Manager Don Decker. “We want everybody to get involved and urge other communities to join the Shine in White effort too.”
