Go Orange: Hunger Action Month
A Month of Ways to Take a Bite out of Hunger
Over 706,000 people in South Florida are food insecure, meaning they don’t know from where they will get their next meal. We all have a role to play in getting more food to those who need it and break the cycle of hunger. A nationwide initiative, Hunger Action Month takes place throughout September to raise awareness of hunger in America. Of those 700,000 food insecure people, 240,000 are children and over 110,000 are elderly.
Below is a great calendar with suggested activities that can be done as an individual or a company that can truly make a difference for to Feeding South Florida.
Just who is Feeding South Florida? The local network food bank of Feeding Florida and Feeding America. Feeding America is the nation's largest domestic hunger-relief organization. Feeding South Florida partners with over 300 nonprofits throughout South Florida.

Feeding South Florida is always looking for Volunteers to sort non-perishable items. Go a step further and register for a shift during their 7th Annual 24-Hour Sort-A-Thon. Groups are welcome!
Of course donations are always welcome; start a fund drive, a food drive or attend an event. It's all fun and for a GREAT cause. Only with help from outside sources can America's food insecurity problem be solved.
