Housing Assistance Programs for Weston Residents

home signThe City of Weston, in partnership with the Broward County Housing Finance and Community Redevelopment Division, offers minor home repair or home purchase assistance programs to qualifying Weston residents (or Weston home buyers) as funded through the US Housing and Urban Development"s Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program and the State's (SHIP) program. 

The following programs are available:

Down Payment Assistance

If you plan to purchase a home in Weston, this program will provide a maximum of $50,000 to qualified applicants for down payment assistance fo the new home.  As long as the borrower owns, occupies and maintains the home for a period of 15 years, the loan will be forgiven.  You DO NOT have to be a first-time homebuyer to quality for this program.

Home Repair Assistance

Eligible homeowners may apply for up to $40,000 for repairs to their home.  Projects include roof repair and/or replacement, window replacement, door replacement, insulation, hurricane/storm shutter, and HVAC/air conditioning.

 

Barrier Free / Special Needs Modifications

Households with a member with a disabling condition may apply for up to $40,000 to fund modifications to their home, including removal of interior and exterior accessibility and mobility barriers, doorway expansions, retrofit bathrooms and kitchens and other life safety improvements.

Status of Program Funding in Weston

As of February 10th, the CDBG Minor Home Repair/Hardening program has three Weston clients with an estimated total expenditure of $129,000. Two SHIP Minor Home Repair projects in the amount of $42,235 have been completed, and two additional clients are under construction under the State Housing Initiatives Partnership (SHIP) Program in the amount of $74,144. Additionally, two new clients are currently waiting for bids to be received.
