Weston University Program Takes City Hall
The City of Weston kicked off the seventeenth year of the Weston University Program on Wednesday, October 24th by hosting the group of high school students that make up the program’s Class of 2019. The program exposes students to local government, giving them first-hand insight of the work that goes into running a city. Students meet once monthly from October through April. As customary, the first program day - held during Florida City Government Week - included an overview by City Manager, John R. Flint; a session with Mayor Daniel Stermer and ethics and legal perspectives by City Attorney Jamie Alan Cole.
Students are selected by their respective schools to participate in the program each year. They represent Cypress Bay High School, Western High School and Sagemont Upper School.
