The City of Weston is celebrating four statewide honors from the Florida Festivals & Events Association (FFEA), earning recognition for its Parks and Recreation guide, Earth Day celebration and Hometown 5K Run/Walk.

The 2026 SUNsational Awards were presented during FFEA’s 32nd Annual Convention & Expo. The annual awards program recognizes innovation, individuality and creative collaboration among organizations producing festivals, events and community programming throughout Florida.

More than 200 events submitted entries for consideration across categories ranging from printed materials and photography to promotional items, multimedia marketing, events and programming.

Weston received awards in the following categories:

Weston@Play Parks & Recreation Guide | 1st Place – Brochure

Weston@Play's Winter/Spring 2026 edition earned first place for its Parks & Recreation Guide, a publication created to keep residents connected to the many programs, activities and special events happening throughout the City. Produced through a collaboration between the City’s Communications and Parks & Recreation departments, the guide provides residents with a convenient resource for planning how they want to play, explore and get involved in Weston.

Earth Day, the Weston Way | 2nd Place – Photo Op

Weston’s annual Earth Day celebration earned second place for its photo opportunity. Earth Day, the Weston Way brings the community together for a family-friendly celebration focused on environmental awareness, conservation and simple ways residents can help care for the planet.

Hometown 5K Run/Walk | 3rd Place – Photo

A memorable moment from the Hometown 5K Run/Walk earned third place in the Photo category. The annual race brings runners and walkers of all ages together for an active start to Weston’s Hometown Fourth of July festivities.

Hometown 5K Run/Walk | 3rd Place – Promotional Item

The custom medal designed for the Hometown 5K Run/Walk earned third place in the Promotional Item category. Created especially for the event, the medal gives participants a keepsake to commemorate crossing the finish line and taking part in one of Weston’s signature Fourth of July traditions.

SUNsational Award nominations were evaluated by a panel of professionals representing media outlets, printing companies, website design, photography, promotional marketing and social media.

The Florida Festivals & Events Association is a not-for-profit organization that supports and promotes more than 5,500 festivals, events and fairs throughout Florida through education, networking, information sharing and the cultivation of high professional standards.
