Broward County's Mosquito Control Section will conduct aerial spraying for adult mosquitoes over portions of Weston and several neighboring communities between Saturday, August 1, and Tuesday, August 4, 2026, weather permitting.

The overnight operation is scheduled to take place between 2 and 6 a.m. and will also include portions of Davie, Sunrise, Southwest Ranches, Pembroke Pines and Miramar.

According to Broward County, the spraying is being conducted in response to a high number of mosquito service requests and recent surveillance data. The treatment targets adult saltmarsh mosquitoes, a species that migrates from the Everglades. While these mosquitoes are known for their aggressive biting and ability to travel long distances, they are not known to transmit diseases such as Zika or Dengue.

Residents with breathing difficulties are encouraged to remain indoors while spraying is taking place. Individuals registered with the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services as chemically sensitive will be notified before the operation.

In addition to aerial spraying, Broward County uses backpack sprayers and trucks to manage mosquito populations based on surveillance data and resident service requests.

Residents can also help reduce mosquito activity around their homes by eliminating standing water where mosquitoes can breed. Empty buckets, flowerpot saucers, birdbaths and other containers that collect water on a regular basis.
