Members of the WestonGov Academy Class of 2026 were recognized by the City Commission upon completing the City's civic education and engagement program

Twenty Weston residents have successfully completed the 2026 WestonGov Academy, an immersive civic education program that offers participants a behind-the-scenes look at how their local government serves the community. The graduates were recognized during a recent City Commission meeting, where they received padfolios commemorating their accomplishment.

Held each spring, WestonGov Academy is designed for residents ages 18 and older who are interested in learning more about the City's operations, services, and partnerships. Throughout the program, participants meet with City staff and service providers, visit municipal facilities, and gain firsthand insight into the planning, decision-making, and teamwork required to deliver the high-quality services Weston residents enjoy every day. The program also encourages participants to become informed community ambassadors by sharing what they have learned with neighbors and friends.

Over the course of the Academy, the Class of 2026 explored a wide range of topics, including the City’s history, public safety, parks and recreation, public works, development services, emergency management, finance, Information Technology and the City's unique approach to local government. Along the way, participants had opportunities to ask questions, engage with department leaders, and experience the many facets of municipal operations firsthand.
