The City of Weston has been awarded a $250,000 grant from the Florida Division of Emergency Management for Weston's City Hall Roof Replacement project.  The application was submitted by the city's Public Works Department, under the 2026–2027 Hurricane Loss Mitigation Program (HLMP) application period for funding consideration.  The award amount for this project is the maximum award amount allowed by the program.

The grant award will pay for 63% of the cost of the project.  This significant savings is a savings not only for the City but for Weston taxpayers. 

According to the award letter, each application submitted to the State was evaluated for completeness, cost-effectiveness through a benefit-cost analysis, technical feasibility, and environmental impacts. Following this thorough review, the City Hall Roof Replacement was selected for funding. 

The Hurricane Loss Mitigation Program was established by the Florida Division of Emergency Management in response to the devastation caused by Hurricane Andrew. It is designed to minimize damages from hurricanes by funding activities that promote property resiliency.  Eligible applicants include governmental entities and nonprofit organizations, with a per-project cap at $250,000 state share per applicant.
