The Weston City Commission recognized the BSO Weston Fire Rescue employees of the month during the City Commission meeting on Monday, May 18, 2026.

Crews responded to a severe crash involving a pickup truck that had become lodged beneath a semi tractor-trailer, leaving the occupant trapped with life-threatening injuries. Upon arrival, personnel immediately began coordinated rescue and medical operations under extremely challenging conditions.

Through exceptional teamwork, technical skill and calm professionalism, crews completed a complex extrication using specialized equipment to safely create access to the patient. At the same time, first responders provided advanced trauma care to help stabilize the patient during the rescue operation.

Suppression, rescue, EMS and air rescue personnel worked seamlessly to remove the patient from the heavily damaged vehicle and provide critical lifesaving interventions, including blood administration and TXA, before transport. Their coordinated response demonstrated the highest standards of emergency care, operational excellence and service under pressure.

Incidents like this underscore the extensive training, dedication and teamwork required to manage complex rescues while providing compassionate, lifesaving care to the community.
