Budget Presentation Award

Post Date:03/26/2026 10:07 AM

For the twenty-forth consecutive year, the Government Finance Officers Association has recognized the City of Weston with the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award for the period beginning October 1, 2025.

City Manager Don Decker stated, "Congratulations to Bryan for the many, many hours of work that go into the production of an informative and transparent budget."

The award represents a standard of excellence continually achieved via the commitment of the Budget and Finance Departments to meet the highest principles of governmental budgeting. In order to receive this award, a government entity has to satisfy nationally recognized guidelines for effective budget presentation.

These guidelines are designed to measure how well the budget serves as:

  • a policy document
  • a financial plan
  • an operations guide
  • a communications device

Budget documents must be rated "proficient" in all four categories, and in the fourteen mandatory criteria within those categories, to receive the award. This award is the highest form of recognition in governmental budgeting, judged by a panel of independent reviewers, and represents a significant achievement.
