On November 24, 2025, members of BSO Fire Rescue responded to a medical emergency involving a 7-year-old child who had fallen from the back of a golf cart and sustained a head injury.

What initially appeared to the family as a minor incident quickly revealed itself to be far more serious, with concerning signs of potential head trauma that required immediate medical intervention and transport to a designated trauma center. According to Chief Todd Draizin, "Your rapid assessment, clinical vigilance, and decisive actions were critical in identifying the severity of the injury and ensuring the child received the appropriate level of care without delay." Equally important was the teams calm, compassionate demeanor, which provided reassurance and comfort to a frightened child and an understandably emotional family during an extremely stressful moment.

At the City Commission meeting of January 20, 2026, Chief Draizin thanked the crew, "For your professionalism, attentiveness, and unwavering commitment to patient care. Your actions not only safeguarded the health and well-being of a young patient but also exemplified the trust and confidence our community places in its fire rescue professionals. Your efforts truly make a lasting and meaningful difference in the lives of those we serve."
