Particularly in the early stages of a disaster, it is best to provide financial assistance to an established and trusted organization that can provide support where it is needed most. Select from a list of organizations that are vetted, and established. Go to NVOAD to search trusted organizations now.
It is unfortunate but scammers use disasters to prey on the good nature of those that want to help. Be suspicious of anyone calling or soliciting money online that you do not know.
