The City of Weston joined cities throughout the state in celebrating Florida City Government Week from October 20 through 26, 2025, and beyond.

Because city government operations have the most direct impact upon its residents, it is important that residents understand how their city operates, the services it provides and the importance of their active involvement.  “Florida City Government Week is an opportunity to help our residents become more informed about the many services Weston provides through its property taxes, which will lead to more knowledge and engagement by our residents in the future,” said City Manager, Don Decker.

Florida City Government Week, sponsored by the Florida League of Cities, is a weeklong celebration  each October that raises awareness about the importance of municipal government and its daily impact on residents. The League is the official organization of the municipal governments in Florida.

How to Get Involved

Residents of Weston can actively contribute to their community by participating in various city programs designed to enhance safety, preparedness, and civic engagement. One such opportunity is the Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) offered by BSO Weston Fire Rescue. Participants receive training to assist in emergency or disaster response, as well as participate in community events. Additionally, BSO's Weston District Law Enforcements offers the Citizens Observer Patrol Program (COP), which allows residents to patrol their neighborhoods and report suspicious activities.
