The City of Weston proudly recognizes BSO Fire Rescue Lieutenants Christopher Florea and Stephen Krivjanik as Employees of the Month for their extraordinary life-saving actions while off duty. On the morning of August 17, 2025, the two lieutenants came upon a fiery crash on I-75 and immediately stopped to help. Working together, they fought flames and freed a seriously injured driver who was trapped inside his vehicle, saving him from certain tragedy.

Their quick thinking, decisive teamwork, and professionalism set in motion critical trauma protocols, ensuring the patient received the highest level of emergency care. Thanks to their bravery and selfless response, the victim was safely airlifted for advanced treatment and survived a life-threatening situation.

Weston Fire Chief Todd Draizin added, "Lieutenants Florea and Krivjanik exemplify the very best of the fire service — proving that the heart of a first responder beats just as strongly off duty as it does in uniform."
