All involved in the Indian Trace Roadway Improvements Project want to ensure a smooth start and continue that all the way to completion.

Indian Trace is in need of resurfacing and the City is using this opportunity to also add buffers to the existing bike lanes to improve safety, as well as addressing two areas on the roadway that are prone to standing water following intense rain events.

Project Area 

The project limits are the Indian Trace corridor from Saddle Club Road east to the City limits at I-75. Improvements will include modification of existing roadway drainage; milling and resurfacing, new 7’ buffered bike lanes, new crossing guard parking at the Saddle Club Road and Indian Trace intersection, ADA accessible curb cut ramps at all existing intersections, accessible sidewalks; signage and Weston quality landscaping.

Project Hours of Construction:

• Any paving performed east of Weston Road will be performed at night. 
• All work performed west of Weston Road will be performed during the day.
• The daytime work hours are between 7 AM and 7 PM, Monday through Saturday.
• West of Weston Road, temporary lane closures are allowed during off-peak hours between 9 AM -4 PM, however within the limits of school zones, the closure schedule will be modified to minimize impacts to school traffic.  

June 2026 Update:

The contractor will resume milling and resurfacing operations the week of June 15-19. They will not be working June 22-26, and will return to the project on June 29. 

April 2026 Update:  

A new asphalt pavement surface is nearly complete on Indian Trace from Saddle Club Road to Town Center Blvd.  The small section remaining and the rest of Indian Trace to Weston Road will be resurfaced in April.   There are currently painted pavement markings in most locations west of Town Center Blvd.  These will be replaced with reflective thermoplastic markings when the project is complete.  Pavers for the new crossing guard parking area at Indian Trace and Saddle Club will be installed the first week of April.

February 2026 Update:  

Milling and resurfacing of Indian Trace from Saddle Club through the Weston Road intersection will begin the first week of February and is anticipated to be completed by the end of March.   This work is very weather dependent, so the schedule may change slightly.   Crews will start the work at the Saddle Club intersection and work progressively to the east.  All work will be done during the day with one lane in each direction remaining open at all times. 
The Weston Road intersection and the work that is east of Weston Road will be done at night.  After the repaving, painted temporary striping will be installed and then replaced with thermoplastic pavement markings after the asphalt has cured.

December 2025 Update:

The contractor (Pedrail) is looking to complete the widening (approximately 2’ on either side of the road) by the end of the month.  The widening that is remaining on Indian Trace is from Palm Blvd. to the entrance at Emerald Isle.  Other work remaining within the project limits is narrowing of the median island on Town Center Blvd., rebuilding several ADA curb ramps, miscellaneous drainage work, and completion of the new crossing guard parking area at the Saddle Club and Indian Trace intersection.  In the second week of January the contractor is planning to begin the milling and repaving operations throughout the project limits.   The work will be completed during the day with periodic lane closures.

Short-Term Disruptions, Long-Term Gains

Road construction can be frustrating—traffic delays, detours, and the occasional noise can test anyone’s patience.

However, the benefits of road repaving far outweigh these temporary inconveniences,
ensuring safer, smoother, and
more efficient roadways for years to come.

A well-maintained road network enhances driving conditions by reducing potholes and cracks that can damage vehicles. It also improves safety by providing better traction and clearer lane markings. Additionally, today's paving techniques help extend the lifespan of roads, reducing the need for frequent repairs and unexpected closures in the future.

This project is a MAP Broward Surtax funded project. Map Broward is the 30-year  program resulting from the Penny for Transportation Surtax approved by voters.  The City was awarded $3,461,149.00
