Weston parents and school administrators in Broward County Public Schools in Weston have more to be proud of: Out of the 43 schools in Broward named ‘Schools of Excellence’, 9 are in Weston!  Statewide, 774 schools in Florida were designated as Schools of Excellence.

These schools earned this distinction by scoring in the 80th percentile or higher in their grade calculation compared to schools in the same grade group for at least two of the past three school years.  The Schools of Excellence program was established by the Florida Legislature in 2017 to recognize high-performing schools.

Schools that initially qualify for the designation can retain it for up to three years, after which they may renew it. Benefits of the designation include increased autonomy, additional funding and priority in state funding.
