If you or a loved one would need special assistance should a hurricane threaten our area, then you should review and register for one or both of the following registries.

You must register in advance, before a storm threatens. 

The Broward County Vulnerable Population Registry is a program that helps emergency workers plan a better response during a recovery effort. You should pre-register in the Vulnerable Population Registry if you are at risk due to a disability, frailty or health issue, regardless of age, AND you elect to stay at home in the event of a hurricane or other emergency.  While registering in the database is not a guarantee that you will be provided services or placed on a priority list for responders, it will help responders be better prepared to meet your needs in a recovery.

The Special Needs Shelter Registry is a program that assists if you or a family member requires special medical assistance in evacuating or sheltering, but does not require hospitalization. By registering in advance, your City’s emergency managers will know what type of assistance will be needed by members of their community who would potentially need to evacuate to a shelter.

Both registries inform decisions for emergency managers and do not guarantee assistance.
