The Florida Municipal Communicators Association (FMCA), a professional network of individuals providing communications leadership and support to Florida’s cities, towns and villages, announced the City of Weston won the 2024 Outstanding Award for Video - External Resources. The association recognized the winners during its 2024 Annual Conference.

The City submitted its video, Hurricane Preparedness - Are You Weston Ready? for the award.

The newly installed FMCA President Kevin Hogencamp, Deputy City Manager for the City of Atlantic Beach stated, “We applaud the remarkable achievements of our award winners who have gone above and beyond to connect with residents and empower them with vital information,”  Effective communication remains the cornerstone of resilient communities. About the video:

City communication staff wrote the script and once again convinced Annalisa Walker, Special Events Manager in Parks & Recreation to be the talent in the video. Annalisa has been in a number of videos now and is Communications go-to on-camera star. A production company was hired to film and edit, utilizing green screen technology. 

The 2 1/2 minute video provides a lot of hurricane preparedness information in a short amount of time, using visuals to reinforce the message. We felt our community would like to hear from someone connected TO the community and the hope is to get people to act.  The video can be used for several seasons, making it very economical. It is on our website, used in social media, played at presentations and more.
