On August 24, 2018, Weston Mayor Daniel J. Stermer was presented with the Pinnacle Leader of the Year Award at the Annual Sawgrass Awards hosted by The Greater West Broward Business Council. The award was presented at a luncheon at the Weston Hills Country Club right here in our beautiful Weston.

Pinnacle Leader of the Year: Mayor Daniel Stermer, City of Weston
The Keynote Speaker for the event was Mayor Michael Ryan of the City of Sunrise, a friend and colleague of Mayor Stermer who spoke of their numerous collaborations for the betterment of their cities and the county. Mayor Stermer has long supported the business community and business climate within Weston and Broward County and has been an outspoken advocate for county-wide transportation initiatives to benefit commuters and businesses.
Mayor Stermer currently serves as Chair of the Broward County Planning Council, serves as Chair of the Oversight Committee for the Implementation of the Interlocal Agreement for Public School Facility Planning, is the First Vice President of the Broward League of Cities, Chairs the Ethics Task Force of the Broward League of Cities and serves on the League's Executive Committee, and serves on the Board of Directors of the Florida League of Cities.
Mayor Stermer had the privilege to serve on, and was elected Chair of the Broward Metropolitan Planning Organization for four terms, rose to become the First Vice President of the Broward League of Cities, and served as Chairperson of the Broward League of Cities Sustainability Committee.
