For the 26th consecutive year, the City of Weston has been awarded the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for its Annual Comprehensive Financial Report for the Fiscal Year ending September 30, 2023.  

The award, presented by the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) of the U.S. and Canada, is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting. 

RECOGNITION PROGRAM           

The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting, and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management. 

The report has been judged by an impartial panel to meet the high standards of the program to clearly communicate a financial story and motivate potential users and user groups to read the report. 

These reports contain a wealth of information about a city. They tell a story on not only the city’s fiscal health and condition, but provide additional financial, economic and demographic information that is useful and informative to residents, businesses, students and future businesses or individuals looking to locate in the city. 

This recognition is made possible by the dedicated professionalism of Weston's Director of Accounting, Cindy Tao, and her staff, and by our Assistant City Manager/CFO, Darrel Thomas. 

The recognition independently validates the quality of the City’s financial reporting
and should give the City’s residents confidence that their tax dollars are
properly accounted for to the highest scrutiny.
