Today, we pause to honor those that made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our nation as members of the United States Armed Forces.
Our gratitude is everlasting.
The Memorial Day holiday began as “Decoration Day” on May 30, 1868 – a time to decorate the graves of those that lost their lives in the war; yet, even prior to that date, local observances were held to honor those who died fighting in battles across the North and the South. Memorial Day was declared a national holiday in 1971.
All City administrative offices (City Hall, Administrative Services Center, Weston Community Center, and Public Works Services Center) will be closed in observance of Memorial Day.
All City parks will follow regular operating hours.
There will be regularly scheduled garbage and recycling collection.
