FDOT Community Update Meeting for I-595 Construction - Thu., 6/30



DAVIE, FL – The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) will be holding a Community Update Meeting for the I-595 Express Corridor Improvements Project on June 30, 2011 from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Signature Grand, located at 6900 State Road 84 in the Town of Davie, Florida.

The purpose of the Community Update Meeting is to provide property owners, residents, businesses and interested parties throughout the corridor and South Florida with an opportunity to learn about the current status of the I-595 project, now in its second year of construction.

The meeting will be informal with no presentation. Project aerials, photos and other information will be on display. Staff will be present to answer questions. The interested public can arrive at their convenience during the hours of 4:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.

The I-595 Express Corridor Improvements Project consists of the reconstruction of the I-595 mainline and all associated improvements to frontage roads and ramps from the I-75/Sawgrass Expressway interchange to the I-595/I-95 interchange, and on Florida’s Turnpike from Peters Road to Griffin Road for a total project length of 13 miles. The project also includes tolled reversible Express Lanes. The approximate cost of design and construction is $1.2 billion. Construction started in February 2010 and is scheduled to be completed in 2014.
