2010 Florida Building Code Changes
Affecting A/C Contractors
EFFECTIVE MARCH 15, 2012
There is a significant new Florida Building Code change that will have an impact on code compliance for both new and existing air conditioning systems. These changes take effect March 15, 2012. To guard yourself against a code change affecting you and your industry, please obtain a copy of the 2010 Florida Building Codes and review them, additionally the code is available on line at www.floridabuilding.org.
101.4.7.1.2 Replacement Equipment Sizing (MANDATORY) An A/C contractor or licensed Florida Professional Engineer shall submit a nationally recognized method based sizing calculation to the code official at the time of permit application for total replacement of the condensing and evaporator components of HVAC systems in accordance with Florid law and the provisions of Section 403.6.1 or Section 503.2.1 as applicable.

The City of Weston contracts with C.A.P. Government, Inc. for building and permitting activities. The purpose of building code services is to assure compliance with the Florida Building Code, Broward County Edition, which regulates all building construction activities within the City of Weston. These services include building plan review, the issuance of building permits, inspections during construction, issuance of Certificates of Occupancy and issuance of Certificates of Use and building code enforcement.
