LANGUAGE CHANGE

The Florida Legislature enacted legislation which changes the name of the "Occupational License Tax" to the "Local Business Tax Receipt". The purpose of the law is to prevent fraud.

This law became effective on January 1, 2007. This is the only name/title change.

The change in language shall apply to all Business Tax Receipts (formerly Occupational License Tax) renewals and new Receipts, issued after January 1, 2007 .

Receipts issued or renewed for the Fiscal Year 2006-2007 period, prior to January 1, 2007, will be effective throughout the 2006-2007 period, which runs October 1, 2006 - September 30, 2007 , regardless of the legislative change, since the Receipt was issued or renewed, pursuant to the law in effect at that time.

This Business Tax Receipt is required for the privilege of engaging in or managing any business, profession, or occupation within the City of Weston.
